Arashi 30 Day Challenge for Interesting People.

Day 1: Tell the story of how you came to be a fan of Arashi. Include one lie in your story and see if people can guess which part is the lie.


In 2004~5 my jrock phase was winding down as my Hello! Project idol obsession was gearing back up. Somehow, I had become friends with a girl who post a lot of jrock scans, and it seems she was also an Arashi fan. She sent me clips of some silly people trying to speak English on a boat, and of one of those silly people shouting at cheetahs again, in English. She told me the name of the group and I thought "Hey! That sounds familiar!" As it turns out, I had previously attempted to download some comedy song from Austin Powers using Napster and the song actually turned out to be some random Japanese song. It was "Blue" by Arashi.

Being easily distracted, I forgot about these Arashi people and eventually went off to study abraod in Japan in the fall of 2005. That fall one of my host sisters was watching a drama called Hana Yori Dango, so I started to watch with her and became enthralled. Not long after Arashi was on Music Station performing WISH, and my host sister connected all of the dots for me. And so it began.

1) Who are you (ie, what do you prefer to go by) I am Katie! It's even conveniently on my birth certificate just like that.

...and what do you like? I like idols and science fiction. My most favorite things in each of those categories would be Arashi, Hello! Project, Momoiro Clover, Star Trek, and Stargate Atlantis.


2) How long have you been in fandom and what keeps you here! I've been an Arashi fan since late 2005. I'm still around because Arashi continues to make me smile no matter what is going on. They have a unique ability to continually evolve without losing what made me love them in the first place, which I think is hard to find in any fandom.

I've been a fan of Hello! Project on and off since 2000, more heavily since 2004. Even though my favorite girls keep disappearing, someone new always comes along to steal my heart.

As for sci-fi, that's a lifelong love that I believe was passed on to me genetically from my dad :D


3) Feelings about blogging/friending policy. I'm not particularly great at blogging, but it's something I'd like to try to do more often. As for friends, please don't friend me just because I upload stuff. That being said, I'd love to make more friends within my fandoms so long as it seems like we might get along.
